National Pet Week Is May 1-8!

April 5, 2019

Join us in celebrating National Pet Week this May 1-8! We all love our pets and treat them as members of the family. This week is the time to give them extra special attention, and lavish them with affection and treats. It’s also a great time to make sure your pets are up to date on all their shots and preventative medications by bringing them in to see a veterinarian in Saint Francisville, LA.

Celebrating your pets during National Pet Week

If you already treat your pets like part of the family (you know we do!), you may be at a loss for how to make them feel extra special this week. However, our pets listen to us without judgment seven days a week, 52 weeks of the year! They definitely deserve some special treatment this week that includes more than a trip to see the veterinarian in Saint Francisville, LA. But don’t worry! We have plenty of ideas about how to celebrate your pets this week:

  • Quality time: Whether your dog loves a walk or trip to the park, getting outside to spend quality time with him will make his day. Make an effort to get outside with your dog every day this week and get some fresh air for both of you! After being cooped up all winter, the whole family could use some sunshine and physical activity. But getting outside is not always an option for every pet owner. Maybe your pet is a cat and would love a long brushing and petting session instead. It’s easy to ignore these seemingly independent creatures, but cats need just as much love and attention as any other pet!
  • Surprise party: What better excuse for a party than a celebration of your most adorable family members? Invite your friends and their pets over for a Pet Week celebration! Or, if your home is not the ideal place to house an entire farm’s worth of animals, why not plan a trip to the dog park with all your four-legged buddies and make a day of it?
  • Extra treats: The party is over, but that doesn’t mean Pet Week is at an end. Extend extra lavish attention and praise on your furry babies this week, including extra treats, new toys and surprises. A new toy could be an excellent excuse to spend the day in the park. Plus, a new bag of treats invites new lessons in learning new tricks! Your fur baby will love the attention, and you’ll both have a new trick to show off when your friends come over.

It’s fun to give our pets extra attention for National Pet Week, but we know that treating them well all year long is just as important. The best thing you can do for your pet’s health is to make sure to make it to wellness checkups and keep up to date on vaccinations. If it’s time for a wellness checkup and you’re looking for a veterinarian in Saint Francisville, LA, feel free to give us a call at St. Francisville Animal Hospital and we can make you an appointment.
